Pakistan posted an imposing 135 for three in six overs, thanks to opener Abdul Samad’s 13-ball 42 and skipper Abbas Afridi’s blistering 52 off 11 balls. In reply, Kuwait was restricted to 92 in 5.1 overs, with left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat picking three wickets.
Pakistan had also opened its campaign with a four-wicket win over Kuwait. It suffered a minor setback in its following match as it lost to archrival India by two runs via the DLS method. From there on, Pakistan beat South Africa by five wickets in the quarterfinal, and edged Australia by one run in the semis to reach the final.
This was Pakistan’s sixth title win at the Hong Kong Sixes competition.
