Mission and scope
We aim to publish accurate, timely and contextual reporting in the public interest. News, analysis and opinion are identified and handled as distinct forms of journalism.
Sources and verification
Material claims are checked against available documents, direct sources or multiple credible sources before publication. Anonymous sourcing is reserved for information in the public interest where identification could expose a source to harm.
Independence and fairness
Editorial decisions are kept independent from political, commercial and advertising influence. Advertising and sponsored material are not presented as newsroom reporting.
Attribution and rights
Reporting, agency material, photographs and documents originating elsewhere receive clear attribution. Plagiarism, misleading headlines and material presented outside its proper context are not acceptable.
Automation and summaries
Automated summaries may be used to help readers scan a report. A summary supplements rather than replaces the full article and is reviewed when an error is reported. Responsibility for the published report remains with the publisher and named byline.
Conflicts of interest
Authors and editors are expected to disclose financial, personal or political interests that could reasonably affect the independence of their work.
